Education...hmmm!, educations what you need.
If you want to be a mathematician or computer programmer or record breaker...ohhh!

(see Roy Castle and Record Breakers for reference)

Dreaming of riches and dominating the sea is all you ever wanted. But it is very hard to do when your an ugly spud!

Potato Pirates has a collection of them and you are responsible for keeping them a float.

You'll have 2 ships, loaded up with potatoes. Ten of them each. If you loose them and there are no crew members aboard a vessel, it sinks.

Players are going to be drawing cards every turn and adding them to their docked ships. These cards will be "action" cards, that will do damage to a target ship. In one's, two's and three's..."That's not a lot of damage", you say.

That's where the "control" cards come into play. These can also be loaded onto the ships to increase your attack. They will either multiply the "action" cards, give conditions for the use of the "action" cards or set a programmed pattern en route for the "action" cards. These will give different attacks to your enemies, hopefully eliminating them. Making you the soul survivor, winning the game.

Or  you could collect all 7 of the Potato Kings, also winning you the game. Every time you have a King in you hand, you place it in front of you. The other players have to show their respects and salute you. Being the slowest to do so will cost you two of you potato crew, as they defect to the side of the Potato King. Kings can be found, stolen and  collected throughout the game.

"Surprise" cards are also thrown into the mix to block attacks, gain new cards and ship. And deny someone who denies you. Giving you a family fun, take that style of game, that also teaches math and programming.

To find out more, watch my first impressions video below. Or click on the link below that to see the Kickstarter page. And remember to your pirate flag FRYING.

THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE KICKSTARTER

HOW WAS THE WEST WON...?

Well it wasn't by drawing fastest or by scaring the the tribesmen away. It was done at a table, with two players and box of cardboard.
Picture
This is Outlaws, a Kickstarter from Holy Grail Games. Where one box will bring dual-ling fun for two players. And two boxes will extend that pleasure to four.

Everyone is trying to get their Governor to be elected...well, as Governor of a small western town, where cowboys wear hats and dead men wear no plaid. If you successfully get more votes than the other player, you win the game...Simple, eh!

But each player also has a, so crooked, he could swallow nails and spit out corkscrews, Hitmam who can take out that pretty dressed, ladies man. If he can find him, that is. And when the hit is done, and your Governor the only one in town, you'll win.

...Unless, the Sheriff finds this critter and arrests him.

So, we have a back and forth, two player game that plays quicker than a man could eat his hat. With three different ways to win.
And a selection of characters, each with their own special powers (and more Kickstarter exclusive characters too) to help you deduce and bluff your way to the top. You'll also have to have something under your hat, other than your hair, to remember where voting slips are and the whereabouts of certain persons.

Now you know a little about this one horse town, and some of it's fine citizens and, crocked as a dogs back leg, scoundrels, why not take a walk down the dusty streets with me in this "How to play - First Impressions" video and learns more.

You can also jump on your horse and go straight to the Kickstarter by clicking this link here.

Also I was chatting with Jamie Johnson of Holy Grail Games, "live" on Burky & Badger's Board Game Babble. Watch and get some insider details.
